Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles took down Buffalo State at home, 18-5, improving to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in SUNYAC West play. After taking an early one-goal advantage, five unanswered goals from Brockport gave the squad a 10-4 lead heading into halftime. Outscoring the Bengals 8-1 in the second half secured the first victory of the season for the Green and Gold. The home team outshot its opponent 48-12 in the win and came away with 17 more ground balls on the day.

Strough's Record: Sophomore Natalie Strough made history in the win over Buffalo State, setting a new school record with nine assists in the game. The previous record of eight assists in a single game was set by Sarah Brown back on March 23rd, 2013 in a 19-9 victory over Stevens. Strough totaled 11 points on the day (2 goals & 9 assists) marking the second highest single-game point total in program history. She was one point shy of tying the record of 12 points in a game, set by Angela Inzinna against Fredonia on April 26th, 2005. Strough currently leads the SUNYAC in both assists (11) and points (16) so far this season.

Conklin Chasing History: Entering last game with 170 career goals, ranked 3rd in program history, Heather Conklin moved up into 2nd all-time with three scores on the day. Now with 173 scores for the Golden Eagles, Conklin moves ahead of Angela Inzinna's 171 career goals (2003-2006). Now with six goals on the season, second on the team, Heather needs just 12 more in order to break Kelly Wall's all-time record of 184 career goals (2014-2017).

National Poll: Starting the season ranked 13th in the country, a 1-2 start to the season with losses coming to other nationally ranked opponents kept Brockport inside the top 20. The Golden Eagles are now sitting at No. 16 in the most recent IWLCA Division III Coaches Poll, which was released on Monday, March 29th. They remain one of three SUNYAC teams in the top 25 (Geneseo 15th & Cortland 22nd).

High Powered Offense: Brockport's offense has been putting up some strong numbers early on this season, averaging just over 12 goals per game and scoring . Natalie Strough (16 points) and Allison Jennings (12 points) are currently ranked first and fifth in the SUNYAC for total points. Strough leads the conference in assists (11), while Jennings is tied for the second most goals (10). Heather Conklin is also ranked inside the top 10 in the SUNYAC with six goals so far in 2021. In the last two games, the Green and Gold is averaging 15 goals per game going into Wednesday's match with Fredonia.

Securing the Cage: Previously named SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week, junior goalkeeper Morgan Elmer (1-2) earned her first win of 2021 against Buffalo State. With 34 total saves on the season, Elmer is currently second in the SUNYAC in saves. She also has allowed the least amount of goals between the goalies who have played two or more games. Morgan is also currently second in the conference with her save percentage of 54%.

Looking at Fredonia: The Fredonia Blue Devils are currently 0-1 overall, with a 16-6 loss against Allegheny on March 20th. The trio of Madeline Haney, Erin Woods, and Bri Emery scored all six goals for the Blue Devils, as they each had a pair of goals. Emily Carr got the start in net, making nine saves and allowing 12 goals in just over 50 minutes of action. The matchup with Brockport will open up SUNYAC West play for Fredonia, who was ranked last in the division in the SUNYAC's Preseason Divisional Poll.

Up Next: The No. 16 Golden Eagles are scheduled to be back at home April 6th, for a non-conference battle against the Nazareth Golden Flyers. The game will be played at 4 pm back at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium.
