The nationally-ranked No. 16 Brockport women's lacrosse team cruised to a convincing 21-4 victory on the road at Fredonia in SUNYAC Western Division play Wednesday afternoon. Graduate student
Heather Conklin posted six goals and she now needs six more to break the program's career goal scoring record of 184 currently held by
Kelly Wall '17. Conklin currently has 179 career goals to her credit.
Natalie Strough had another big day offensively for the Golden Eagles as she posted a team-high nine points on three goals and six assists. She now has 17 total assists this season, including 15 in her last two games.
Cassidy Burnash added five points on four goals and one assist, while
Danielle Hemly chipped in with four points on two goals and two assists. Eight different Golden Eagles registered at least one point on the afternoon.
Brockport (2-2), the defending SUNYAC Champions (2019), has outscored its opponents 39-9 over the course of the last two games and the Golden Eagles will return to action on Tuesday when they host Nazareth College in non-conference play at 4 p.m. Fredonia saw its record move to 0-2 on the season.
Brockport jumped out to a dominating 10-0 lead midway through the first half of play behind three goals from Burnash, three goals from
Allison Jennings, and one goal each from Conklin, Strough,
Logan Hibbard and Hemly. Strough added three assists in the opening stretch to help the Golden Eagles to the early ten goal advantage.
Fredonia was able to get two goals before the half, and the score stood at 12-2 after 30 full minutes of action.
The second half saw more of the same as the Golden Eagles posted the first six goals of the half in the first 19:02 of action. Conklin scored three of Brockport's six goals in the stretch to hand the visitors an 18-2 lead with 10:58 left in regulation.
Emily Caramore netted her first goal in the Green and Gold late in the contest and Strough wrapped up the scoring on the day with her third of the afternoon off an assist from Hibbard. Hibbard finished the day with one goal, two assists, three caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Courtney Cunningham also chipped in with one goal for the Golden Eagles.
Morgan Elmer stopped three shots and picked up five ground balls between the pipes for Brockport. Conklin also posted a game-high six draw controls, while Jennings helped Bport control possession with four draw controls of her own.
Bri Emery netted one goal and also posted a team-high five draw controls for Fredonia.
