Women's Lacrosse to Face Buff. St. & Oswego this Weekend

Brockport, NY – The No. 17 Brockport women's lacrosse team has double the action this weekend with back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday. Brockport heads to Buffalo State for a 4 pm battle and then travels to Oswego on Saturday for a 1 pm SUNYAC tilt.

Last Time Out: #17 Brockport hosted #12 Geneseo for a rematch between these two nationally ranked programs. After losing to Geneseo the first time around, the Green and Gold turned it around for round two. Brockport got the win, 15-7, behind career days from Heather Conklin, Courtney Cunningham, and Morgan Elmer. Conklin's seven goals tied her single-game career-high, Cunningham's four goals were a career-best, and Elmer's 17 saves tied her career-high. The win puts the team at 5-2 overall and 4-1 against SUNYAC opponents.
 
Golden Eagle Duo: Natalie Strough and Heather Conklin stand at the top of the SUNYAC statistical leaderboard. Strough leads the conference in total points and assists, tallying 35 points on 25 assists and 10 goals. Conklin is second in the league with 34 points, thanks to six helpers and a SUNYAC best 28 goals scored. No other players in the entire conference have racked up at least 30 points so far this season.
 
Heating Up: Cassidy Burnash and Courtney Cunningham have come on strong in the last week of games for Brockport. Burnash now has scored at least two goals in five straight contests, and has scored nine goals in just the last three games. Cunningham had three goals through the first five games, and since has scored six more in just the last two. She came up big with four scores in the victorious rematch against Geneseo.
 
Brick Wall in Net: Starting goalkeeper and recent SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week, Morgan Elmer has been outstanding in the cage for the Golden Eagles. Over the last three games, Elmer has made a total of 38 saves. She notched a new career-high with 17 saves against Nazareth, before tying that mark in the win over Geneseo. Morgan is 5-2 as the starting goalie and currently leads the SUNYAC in saves (75) and save percentage (.620).
 
5 in a Row: The Golden Eagles have now won five in a row after starting 2021 with a 0-2 record. Scoring at least 12 goals in all five wins, the team is rolling after is most recent win over Geneseo. Holding at 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the SUNYAC, Brockport is now at the top of the SUNYAC West division. The team has three more conference games on the schedule, to determine what will happen when the SUNYAC Tournament comes around at the end of April.
 
Looking at Buffalo St: Buffalo State is 0-5 overall and 0-4 against conference opponents. Earlier this season the Green and Gold took down the Bengals at home, 18-5. Most recently, the team lost to Fredonia on the road 14-8. With 10 goals on the season, Samantha Burlow leads the Bengals in scoring.
 
Looking at Oswego: The Oswego State Lakers are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the SUNYAC. Oswego started 2021 with three consecutive wins, but has since lost two straight. The Lakers were defeated by Geneseo, 22-9, and Clarkson, 18-4. Sela Wiley leads the team with 26 points off of 21 goals and five helpers.
 
Up Next:  The Golden Eagles will take on Oswego again on Wednesday, April 21st for a home game this time around. The contest will begin at 4 pm.
