Brockport Stays Hot With Road Win at Oswego

Oswego, NY – The No. 17 Brockport women's lacrosse team had a huge first half on the road against Oswego on Saturday, setting the way for a 22-9 victory. Heather Conklin had another monster performance, totaling eight points on six goals and two assists.
 
The Golden Eagles have now won seven consecutive contests, as they improved to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the SUNYAC. Allison Jennings and Danielle Hemly both registered three goals and two assists. Natalie Strough finished with one goal and three assists, while teammate Cassidy Burnash scored four goals.
 
The Oswego Lakers took an early 2-1 lead with 23:32 left in the first half. The Golden Eagles then took over the game with seven unanswered goals to go up 8-2. Oswego would find two more scores in the half, but Brockport held a comfortable 15-4 lead at the break.
 
Heather Conklin and Allison Jennings combined for seven goals in the opening half. Cassidy Burnash, Logan Hibbard, and Danielle Hemly all beat the Oswego goalkeeper twice. Natalie Strough and Courtney Cunningham each scored as well.
 
Brockport surrendered two more quick goals to start the second, but Burnash and Conklin teamed up for three scores in response. With three more goals in a span of just over five minutes, Oswego cut the lead to 19-9. Alexandria VanDerKar, Cunningham, and Conklin each found the back of the net to push for the final 22-9 result.
 
Heather Conklin's six goals came on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting effort, and she even secured a game-high eight draw controls. Courtney Cunningham grabbed six draw controls two go with her two goals. The two also led the team with two caused turnovers each in the contest, while Cunningham's four ground balls was a game-high.
 
Morgan Elmer made three saves in the contest, while Erin Lant came up with two stops in just under 15 minutes of action. Elmer and Natalie Strough showed good hustle by scooping up three ground balls each.
 
Isabella Lembo and Kamryn Sherman both scored two goals for Oswego in the loss. Goalkeeper Delaney Kendrick made four saves as the Lakers drop to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
 
The Golden Eagles will face Oswego once again on Wednesday, April 21st, as they host the Lakers for Senior Day. Game is set to begin at 4 pm.
