Brockport, NY- The SUNY Brockport softball team travels to Oswego on Saturday, April 10th, for their second series of the year. The doubleheader will take place at Laker Softball Field with the first pitch being thrown out at 11am.

Last Time Out: The Green and Gold split a pair of games on the road against Buffalo State to open the season last week. A seven-run inning in the sixth helped Brockport take game one, 12-2, before falling in game two, 2-6. The game one victory featured 14 hits, three stolen bases, just one error, and one double.
Amanda Blakely and
Jenna Downey combined for five RBIs in the contest.
Hayden's Hot Start: Olivia Hayden leads the team in hits and runs scored, tallying four of each so far. She is also leading Brockport with her 2-for-2 effort stealing bases. Hayden batted 4-for-8 in the doubleheader with Buffalo State as she knocked in one RBI. The leadoff hitter has a .500 on base percentage and a .500 hitting average early on in 2021.
Blakely with the Bat: Amanda Blakely is currently tied for tops on the team with three RBIs. Connecting for three hits in eight at-bats, she has one double and is hitting .375. Blakely has caused problems on the base path as well, scoring two runs and stealing one base. She did a lot of damage for the Green and Gold in its 12-2 win over Buffalo State, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.
Getting on Base: Jenna Downey is tied with Blakely overall with three RBIs as well early on. Owning the highest on base percentage for Brockport at .750, Downey is batting .500 and has drawn three walks. In the win over the Bengals she had three at-bats and tallied two hits, two RBIs, and a walk.
Morgan Skpowski,
Emily Willis-Nersinger, and
Annie Dipirro all also hold an on base percentage of .500 or better.
In the Circle: Catherine Johnson (1-0) got the job done in her first career start in a Golden Eagle uniform. She pitched a complete game and struck out four to earn the winning decision. She allowed only three hits and one earned run in six innings of work. Johnson so far holds a 1.17 ERA to lead the team.
Julia Palopoli (0-1) and
Macy Kane split the work in game two, each throwing for three innings. Palopoli got the start in the circle, before Kane entered the game in the fourth.
Eyeing Oswego: The Oswego Lakers are currently 1-1 overall, after having split their opening series with the Rochester Institute of Technology back on March 22
nd. The Lakers look to play their first game since then on Friday April 9
th against western divisional opponent Geneseo, before taking on the Golden Eagles. Zoe Meaning is currently Oswego's leading hitter with a .571 batting average having four hits in seven at bats while driving in four RBI's. Having thrown a complete game in the Lakers first series Madison Hoeflich will come into the weekend with a 1-0 record having gone seven innings allowing three runs and seven hits over the course of her first game.

th, as they will take on the Tigers in a non-conference double header matchup starting at 3pm.
