Brockport, NY – The Brockport Men's Lacrosse team hosted Geneseo on Friday for some SUNYAC West competition. The visiting Knights got the win, 16-7, as Brockport drops to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in conference.
Jack Peterson and
Liam O'Connor each recorded three points for the Golden Eagles. Peterson had two goals and one assist, while O'Connor had one goal and two assists.
Brandon Sveda also beat the Geneseo goalkeeper twice on the day.
Peter Scavone got things going early with the first score of the game just a minute and a half into the contest. The Knights would finish the first with three unanswered goals to hold a 3-1 lead into the second period. An early goal from the visiting team would be answered by the Green and Gold, thanks to the first of
Jack Peterson's goals. Geneseo then took control of the game with a 10-2 lead at halftime, thanks to six more scores in the second.
The Golden Eagles would get the first point of the second half, with
Liam O'Connor's third quarter score. More scoring by the Knights made this a 14-4 contest heading into the fourth. Brockport outscored its opponent 3-2 in the final period of play, but the team could not pull off a comeback. Geneseo improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the SUNYAC with the nine-goal victory.
Face-off specialist
Ethan Stiles won 14 of his 25 duels and snagged four ground balls in the process.
Aidan Fitzgerald led the team with five ground balls and he caused two turnovers defensively.
John Felice made four saves in just over 35 minutes of action as the starter in net.
Cameron Kuzniar made his first showing on the field for Brockport, making three saves in almost 25 minutes of action in his debut. Mark Pav had 11 saves in the win for Geneseo.
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Tuesday for a road trip to Cortland, NY. They take on the Red Dragons for a 4 pm start to this SUNYAC battle.
