Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's volleyball schedule has been finalized, as the defending 2019 SUNYAC Champions look to defend their title. The SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Coach of the Decade,
Steve Pike, is back looking for his fifth conference title in his eighth season in the driver's seat.
The action gets started on September 1
st when the Golden Eagles travel for a 7 pm matchup against Houghton College. This will mark the first of 15 non-conference matches slated for 2021.
The Green and Gold will then set out for Alliance, OH to participate in the Mount Union Tournament on September 3
rd and 4
th. Host school Mount Union is up first that weekend with a 7 pm start on Friday. Then Saturday the squad takes on Baldwin Wallace University at 10 am and Carnegie Mellon University at 12 pm.
After the trip Brockport gets ready for its home opener against the nearby Roberts Wesleyan Red Hawks on September 7
th. This non-conference matchup will be played at 7 pm in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.
Next it is the Golden Eagles' turn to host a weekend event, as they welcome other schools for the Golden Eagle Invitational on September 10
th and 11
th. They take on the University of Rochester at 5 pm on Friday and then face Thiel College at 7:30 pm. Saturday brings on matchups against Ithaca College at 1:30 pm and Nazareth College at 3:30 pm.
Mark September 15
th on the calendar as Brockport battles Geneseo on the road, in a rematch of the 2019 SUNYAC Finals to kickoff conference play. During the 2019 season the squad fell to the Knights, 3-0, during the regular season before earning the 3-1 victory in the conference championship match.
Next is a trip to Pennsylvania as the Green and Gold compete at the Messiah Tournament, hosted by Messiah College, on September 24
th and 25
th. The University of Mary Washington is up first for the weekend, starting at 5 pm on Friday. The team gets back to work on Saturday with a match against the host Messiah College at 10 am before closing out the weekend against Juniata College at 2 pm.
Still on the road, Brockport will jump into a pair of SUNYAC matchups at the beginning of October. Cortland is up first, as the team looks to slay the Red Dragons on the road on October 1
st at 6 pm. The next day the Green and Gold swing up to Oswego for a 1 pm start against the Lakers.
The Golden Eagles will then visit St. John Fisher College on October 5
th, finishing up a seven-match streak away from their home floor. They will be ready to protect the nest with four straight home matches coming up, all against SUNYAC opponents.
Brockport hosts Potsdam on October 8
th for a 6 pm start time to kick off the homestand. Plattsburgh State comes to town the next day to continue conference play, as the match is slated for 1 pm.
The Green and Gold welcomes Buffalo State next as the two teams will face off at 6 pm on October 15
th. The final matchup of the four-match homestand will be at 1pm on October 16
th against Fredonia. This will also be the final home match for the 2021 regular season.
With just two more SUNYAC matchups left to be played, Brockport hits the road for one last push for postseason seeding. The women travel to Oneonta on October 22
nd, with the battle beginning at 6 pm. A meeting with New Paltz will conclude SUNYAC play for the regular season, as the two teams face off at 1 pm on October 23
rd.
The Golden Eagles will get some more live preparation for the postseason at the Ithaca Tri-Match on October 30
th. They take on the host Ithaca College at 11 am and then face New York University at 1:30 pm.
November 2
nd marks the start of the SUNYAC Tournament, with the first round getting underway. The Semifinals are scheduled for November 5
th, while the SUNYAC Finals are on the 6
th. Locations and times for the conference tournament will be decided based on the conference standings from the regular season.
