Field Hockey Falls to Earlham 4-1

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport team received its first loss of the season after being defeated 4-1 by visiting Earlham College. Brockport now post a 3-1 record with Earlham advancing to 4-0 this season.
 
One of the game's big stories came from Brockport's junior defender Emma Acevedo who made her first career appearance in goal. She managed to record nine saves against 18 shots from Earlham with 14 being on goal. Meg Murphy of the Quakers improves her goalkeeping record to 4-0, making six saves facing 11 total shots with seven shots on goal.
 
In the first half of the contest Earlham's Denise Bergdolt and Regan Seeman tallied goals with Moly McKellar and Reily Swislosky both recording assists. Katie Ziemba scored the lone goal for the Golden Eagles with assist by Emily Hall. Just before the end of the first half, Regan Seeman scored for the second time of the game to put the Quakers up 3-1. Following a scoreless third quarter, Jaylen Kelsey of the Quakers tallied the games last goal from an assist by Denise Bergdolt to conclude the game with a score of 4-1.
 
Ziemba's seventh goal this season improves her career goal totals to 23 putting her in sole possession of fourth in program history, while increasing her all time in career points to 59.
Ziemba and Paige Thowe were the Green and Golds team leader in shots with four. Jillian Owens made a great defensive save in the game picking up her first one this year.
 
SUNY Brockport will play its next three games on the road starting with a trip to Utica the Golden Eagles will take on the Pioneers at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15th.
