Field Hockey Drops Tough Battle to Utica

Utica, NY – The SUNY Brockport field hockey team picked up its second loss of the season on Wednesday night in a 4-2 matchup with Utica College.
 
Following a scoreless first half of lockdown defense from both teams, the Pioneers managed to find the back of the cage twice in the second quarter of the game. Sabrina Whitehouse scored the unassisted goal to put the Pioneers up 1-0 before her teammate Shannon Jedreicich scored her fourth goal this season with an assist from Sydney Scaccia.
 
One minute into the second half of the game Bailey Lazore would get the opening goal for the Golden Eagles and her second of the season with an assist from Gianna Salerno. The Goal from Lazore would narrow Utica's lead to 2-1 until Sydney Scaccia scored four minutes following Lazore's goal with an assist from Madeline Krecidlo, to increase Utica's score, 3-1. 20 minutes would go by of scoreless field hockey, until Krecidlo would record a goal with Mackenzie Mix picking up an assist for the Pioneer's. closing out the night, at the 52:47 mark of the game, Brockport's Gianna Salerno would capture her third point of the night with the first goal of her collegiate career.
 
For Brockport, stepping in goal for the second time of her career would be that of junior defender Emma Acevedo. Acevedo recorded 60-minutes of play in the cage, along with adding five saves with Justine Draper tallying a defensive save for the Green and Gold. Megan Chamberlain would be the goalkeeper for Utica all game allowing two goals on six saves against Brockport's 10 shots on the night.
 
The Golden Eagles will hit the road once again this upcoming Saturday, September 18th where they'll travel to Colonie, NY to take on The Sage Colleges who hold a 1-3 overall record so far this season.
