Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday. The team fell at home to SUNY Cortland, 5-4, as the team is now 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the SUNYAC.
Caroline Stewart and
Eliza Gonzalez teamed up for another win in first doubles, 8-5, to earn a match point.
Samantha Aubin and
Shannon Aubin also earned a match point for the team in the third doubles match.
Caroline Stewart remained unbeaten in both doubles and singles so far this fall, with a 6-2, 6-4 win in her second singles slot.
Heather Phillips got the nod for fourth singles as she won in two sets 6-3, 6-1 to score a match point for the Green and Gold.
In a tight contest, the visiting Cortland Red Dragons did just enough to edge out the win.
The Golden Eagles are back at it on Saturday for another SUNYAC matchup. They take on the Oswego State Lakers at 1 pm on the Brockport home courts.
