Box Score SUNY Brockport- The Brockport field hockey team was all gas and no breaks in Saturday's blowout victory over The Sage Colleges with a shutout score of 10-0. The win helped improve the Golden Eagles to 4-2 this season as the Gators fell to 1-4 overall.
Â
Many stories came out of this game seeing three Golden Eagles pick up their first goals while wearing the Green and Gold along with one Brockport defender receiving her first career win and shutout as goalkeeper.
Â
Starting strong out of the gate, Brockport waisted no time getting the ball in the back of the cage as it only took 1:26 into the start of the game for
Alyssa Fuccillo to score the game's opening goal. Fuccillo wasn't going to stop there though as she was ready to get more.
Katelynn Mello the programs fourth all-time leader in career assists would add another one to her name as she fed the pass to Fuccillo to capture her second goal of the game and 13th of her career to put her in the top 20 of all-time goal scorers in program history to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0.
Â
Jillian Owens was a factor in the Green and Golds win today too as the junior was able to celebrate her first career colligate goal two minutes following Fuccillo's second of the game, off an assist by
Katie Ziemba at the 7:52 mark of the game. Another Golden Eagle to receive her first career collegiate goal was that of freshman
Quinn Guy. Guy's first goal came at the 9:13 mark of the game with an assist from
Gianna Salerno. Guy wasn't done there though as she scored her second career goal 46 seconds into the second half of the game!
Â
Following Guy's second goal of the game two more goals would be added to Brockport's lead by
Bailey Lazore and
Gianna Salerno. Lazore's goal came off an assist by
Paige Thowe while Salerno scored hers unassisted. The next goal came as two career firsts with
Rileigh Gray putting the ball in the back of the cage off a career first assist from Owens. Lead goal scorer for the Green and Gold this Season, tallied one more to her list picking up her eighth goal of the year which puts her at fifth all time in career goals scored with 24 and fourth in career points with 62!
To finish off the Gators,
Gianna Salerno managed to score in the game at the 55:24 mark. In total, Bport put on a shot clinic as they managed to fire off a total of 42 shots in the game against Sages one.
Â
The Offense wasn't the only thing working for the Golden Eagles as their defenders did an amazing lockdown job on defense. The defense was only able to allow one shot all game which was saved by that of
Emma Acevedo, the defender turned goalkeeper for Brockport who in just her third career game in goal ever picked up a win and shutout!
