Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

RIT Tops Brockport at Home

The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team lost to visiting RIT 5-2 at home on Saturday afternoon.  The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Golden Eagles stormed back to make it a 3-2 contest with less than 30 minutes to go in the second half of play.  The one goal deficit proved to be as close as Brockport would get as the Tigers netted two insurance tallies down the stretch to pick up their fourth win of the season.

Brockport snapped a two-game shutout streak and saw its record fall to 3-2-1 on the season.  The Golden Eagles return to action next Friday when they host SUNY New Paltz for their SUNYAC Conference opener on the turf at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium. The conference opener is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

RIT came out firing as Chris Cataldo-Smith netted two goals in a seven-minute stretch just over 30 minutes into the contest to hand the visitors an early lead.  Olivia Harris gave the Tigers a 3-0 advantage early in the second half when she scored off an assist from Courtney McHale.

Brockport responded with two goals in a span of four minutes to make the game interesting. Katie Hotaling netted her team-high fourth goal of the season off an assist from Sophia DeAngelo to make the score 3-1 in the 57th minutes. DeAngelo now has two assists this season. Brockport's Julia Mascaro then netted her second goal in as many games in the 61st minute to make the score 3-2.  Mascaro leads Brockport with three goals and three assists for nine total points this season.

Courtney McHale took over for RIT in the 76th minute and netted two straight goals in a span of less than two minutes to seal the victory.

RIT outshout the home team 16-8 and the Tigers also earned an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks. Kayla Usborne made four saves in net for Bport before being relieved by freshman Victoria Cangialosi.  Darcie Jones stopped five shots in net for RIT.
