Ithaca Tops Brockport on the Road

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport field hockey team fell to the Ithaca Bomber's Wednesday night by a score of 2-0.  The Golden Eagles would hang with host Ithaca for the first half of the game before the Bombers would grab a goal in each the third and fourth quarter of the game. The two goals would give Ithaca the victory picking up its fifth win of the season having Brockport's record fall to 4-3 this season.
 
The Golden Eagles showed to be the more disciplined team as Ithaca managed to record 52 fouls in the game to Bports 31. Paige Thowe and Katie Ziemba would attempt to put pressure on the Bombers as each recorded two shots in the game. The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they host SUNY New Paltz for their SUNYAC Conference opener on the Turf at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium, the conference open is scheduled to begin at 11a.m.
 
Following a scoreless 1st half, Ithaca's Samantha Horowitz found scored with an assist from Morgan Mullen three minutes into the third quarter. With the Golden Eagles holding Ithaca to one goal for the remainder of the third, at the 50:34 mark of the game a shot by Ithaca resulted in a save by Brockport in front of the goal. Off the save, Ithaca's Morgan Mullen would get the goal finding the ball in the scrum to put the shot on goal and score giving the Bombers the 2-0 lead.
 
The Bombers outshot Brockport 25-4 in the game while earning an 11-4 advantage in Penalty Corners. Ithaca's Alex Clough would record the shutout and her first win in goal for the Bombers this season. The reigning SUNYAC Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week, Emma Acevedo, would be in goal for Brockport again for her fourth time this season. This time around the defender would record a career high 10 saves, her 25th in four games.
