Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's tennis team defeated St. John Fisher in the season opener at home on Friday, 7-2. The squad swept doubles play and took four singles matchups to open the fall 1-0.
Samantha Aubin and
Shannon Aubin dominated in the third doubles slot, taking the point with an 8-1 win.
Caroline Stewart and
Eliza Gonzalez earned the Green and Gold a second point in first doubles, winning by a score of 8-3.
Heather Phillips and
Elizabeth Sirico teamed up for a tight, 8-7 win in the second doubles matchup.
In fifth singles,
Samantha Aubin earned another point for the Golden Eagles by taking the matchup in two sets 6-1, 6-3.
Shannon Aubin got it done as well in her sixth singles spot, also taking the point in two sets 6-0, 6-1.
Caroline Stewart won second singles 7-5, 6-1 to secure a sixth point for Brockport on the day.
In the third singles slot,
Elizabeth Sirico registered the squad's seventh match point, thanks to a 6-3, 6-4 win.
The Golden Eagles are back in action on their home courts tomorrow as Houghton College stops by for another non-conference matchup. This contest is set to start at 1 pm.
