Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the year with a 6-3 win over Houghton at home. For the second match in a row, the team has swept doubles play to help secure a victory.
In the first doubles matchup,
Eliza Gonzalez and
Caroline Stewart cruised to an 8-1 win.
Elizabeth Sirico and
Heather Phillips worked together for an 8-3 victory in the second doubles matchup of the day.
Samantha Aubin and
Shannon Aubin cruised to an 8-1 win in the third doubles spot to secure the clean sweep of doubles competition.
Eliza Gonzalez took care of business in first singles, earning the match point in two sets 6-3, 6-1.
Caroline Stewart also won her matchup in second singles in two straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-2.
Shannon Aubin earned Brockport's sixth match point in her fourth singles slot, as she was pushed to three sets for the win 5-7, 6-3, 11-9.
The Golden Eagles are back at home next weekend for two SUNYAC battles. They take on Cortland on Friday at 3 pm and then welcome Oswego on Saturday at 1 pm.
