Brockport, NY – The Brockport field hockey team was victorious on Saturday, shutting out Elmira at home for a 6-0 win. The squad is now 2-0 this season overall.
 
The Green and Gold scored three goals in each half of the game, as 
Alyssa Fuccillo and 
Katie Ziemba recorded two goals apiece. 
Katelynn Mello and 
Paige Thowe also picked up goals of their own.
 
Helping out on assists were 
Katie Ziemba, 
Kayli Burr and 
Gianna Salerno, who received the first assist of her collegiate career. Another career first in today's game was 
Ella Buchanan's first career shutout as the freshman goalkeeper adds to her resume.
 
The Green and Gold's defense came to play as it did not allow a single shot in the first half of the game and only allowed three in the second. The only shot on goal the Soaring Eagles had was saved by Buchanan.
 
Offensively, Brockport was aggressive and managed to get 25 shots on goal. Corners were a helpful advance for the squad as well as it earned 12 corner opportunities to Elmira's two.
 
Brockport will look to defend its home turf again on Tuesday, September 7th at 7:15 p.m. when it hosts the Nazareth Golden Flyers.
