Houghton, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team got its first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Houghton on the road 4-0. Freshman
Katie Hotaling score her first and second career collegiate goals to help improve the team's record to 1-0-1.
Hotaling found the net twice, while
Sam Maghrak and
Ellen Walpole each scored once on the day.
Camryn Pettit was credited with an assist, while goalkeeper
Kayla Usborne earned a clean sheet in net.
The Green and Gold controlled the game throughout, outshooting the Highlanders 25-3. The team placed 15 shots on net compared to just one from its opponent. Brockport was awarded 9 corner kick opportunities in the match.
Sam Maghrak got the party started with a goal for the Golden Eagles in the 11
th minute of the contest. They didn't take long increasing the lead as
Katie Hotaling would score in the 21
st and 33
rd minute to make it a 3-0 advantage.
Kayla Usborne recorded her lone save in the first half, helping the squad carry a three-goal lead into halftime. Houghton had three shots in the opening 45 minutes but would not register a shot for the remainder of play.
In the 63

Ellen Walpole scored her first goal of the season to stretch the lead to 4-0. Brockport was successful in keeping the Highlanders out of the attacking zone, as the team marched through the finish line.
The Golden Eagles are back on their home field Wednesday, September 8
th when Alfred University comes to town. The match is set to begin at 4 pm.
