Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team is on the road Friday night for a SUNYAC matchup with Geneseo. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 pm.
Last Time Out: The Green and Gold fell to New Paltz in the last game, 90-78, making the team's record 9-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Jahidi Wallace led all scorers with 23 points, but the visiting Hawks had four players score 15 or more in the contest.
Bouncing Back: The Golden Eagles have won nine straight games coming back to the gym after a loss in their last outing. This spans back to the 2018-19 season, which was the last time they have lost two games in a row.
Jahidi Gets Buckets: After putting up 23 points against New Paltz,
Jahidi Wallace has now scored at least 20 points in back-to-back games. He also had 20 in the squad's win over Oneonta. Wallace has scored 20 or more in five different outings this season as he continues his impressive junior campaign. He is averaging a career-high 16.3 points a game, up from his 14 during the 2019-20 season. Jahidi is currently ranked sixth in the SUNYAC in scoring.
Mekhi Stepping Up: Freshman
Mekhi Beckett continues to impress in his first year of collegiate hoops at Brockport. Averaging 13.2 points per game he is second on the team in scoring, and ranks 15
th in the SUNYAC. Beckett has been lethal from downtown, shooting a healthy 48.2% from three. He has hit double-digits in five straight games and has done so in eight of the last nine he has played.
Looking at Geneseo: The Knights are sitting at the top of the SUNYAC going into the weekend at 5-0 in the conference and 7-4 overall. They most recently defeated Oneonta, 91-68, to win their second in a row. Geneseo has won six of its last seven contests heading into Friday's matchup with Brockport. #15 Michael Gannon leads the way for Geneseo, averaging 18.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Brockport defeated Geneseo in both meetings last season, making it three straight wins over the Knights.
