Indoor Track and Field Sets out for Ithaca Quad-Meet

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's and women's indoor track and field team will travel to Ithaca on Friday January 14th at 2:30pm. Including hosts Ithaca College and Brockport, the meet will also feature Moravian University and SUNY Oneonta.
 
Time of Events:
12:00 Noon                ATHLETICS & EVENTS CENTER OPENS
 
 1:00 PM                     IMPLEMENT WEIGHT-IN (Back by throwing cage) Close at 2:15 PM 
 
Field Event Schedule:
2:30 PM                      SHOT PUT (MEN followed by WOMEN) 3 throws, top 5 to finals
                                    Men and women will each throw in Cage
                                    FOLLOWED BY WEIGHT THROW (MEN THEN WOMEN in Cage)
                                    3 throws, top 5 to finals
 3:00 PM                     POLE VAULT (MEN THEN WOMEN) – Followed by Alumni

Last Meet Top Place Recaps:  Both men's and women's teams dominated the Utica Holiday Classic back on December 11th, 2021, where the men's team took home first place scoring 150 points while the women's team brought home the gold with a combined score of 164 points.
 
Record Breaker: Olivier Kothor managed to break his own Brockport Program 60m indoor record of 6.91s he sat back in 2020 running the dash at the Utica Holiday Classis in a time of 6.89s.
 
The women's field athletes have helped both teams put points on the board as they combined for a total 104 of 164 points. The men's runners combined for equally impressive numbers scoring 81 of the team 150 points.
 
For the women, there best event in the competition came at the pole vault where they scored a team high 28 combined points in the single event. four out of the top five finishers in the women's pole vaulting event were Golden Eagles. Mya Henry took home second place with a height of 2.90, Tess Eichner third with a 2.90 mark, Ciara Murphy fourth with a mark of 2.75m and Gillian Laco took home fifth with 2.60m. Hunter Czajkowski finished sixth in the event with 2.45m and Madison Baker claimed seventh with 2.30m.
 
Throws:
The Men's best single event was the shotput where they claimed three of the five top five spots as the throwers in total combined for a total 24 points in the event.  Art Jordan took home first place with 15.70m, Alex Rood claimed a second place finish with 15.43m and Elijah Washington rounded out the top five in fifth place with a total distance of 14.19m
 
Last time out Sarah Crockett dominated the women's thrower from all schools as she took home first place in both the weight throw and shot put events. In the weight throw she threw for a total 15.44m while in the shotput took home first place with a throw of 12.91m.
 
Jumps:
Last time out, Reigning Defending NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Long Jump National Champion Egypt Page took home a first place finish in the long jump as he flew for 7.27m.
 
Distance:
 In the men's 5000m, Thomas Kressly took home a first place finish with a time of 16:00.82. In the Men's Mile, Brockport's Jonathan Zavala took home a first place finish with a total time of 4:27.70. Zavala also claimed first place in the Men's 800m race with a time of 2:01.06. Nick Markle raced his way to a first place finish of 1:25.49 in the 600m.

 Sprints:
Kelsie Neldrett claimed a first place finish in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 9.72s. The Women's 2x200 saw the team of Sarah Levine, Rhea Winter, Sabrina Donoghue, and Marissa Wise take home first place with 1:51.18.
 
Following Fridays meet, the Golden Eagles will host the Brockport Invitational on Saturday, January 22 in the Special Events Recreation Center (SERC). The meet is set to begin at 10 am.
