Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Brockport Falls on the Road to Geneseo Friday Night

Geneseo, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team lost to Geneseo in Friday night's SUNYAC battle, 66-50. The team is now 9-4 overall and 4-3 in the conference after losing two games in a row for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

Jahidi Wallace was one of three double digit scorers for the Golden Eagles, leading the way with 12 points. Antonio Alvarez was one board shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, while Joseph Pena finished with 11 points.

Geneseo benefitted from making several shots from long range early on in the contest, as the team shot 5-for-15 from deep in the first half. While Geneseo shot over 40% in the first half, Brockport struggled shooting below 20% to start the game. The Knights held a 32-16 lead heading into the halftime break.

The shooting struggles continued in the second half, as the Green and Gold was unable to close the gap. The team cut the deficit to 11 points with just over six minutes left in regulation, but that was as close as it would get to catching Geneseo. The Knights marched to a 16-point victory over Brockport at home.

Geneseo remains undefeated in the SUNYAC with a record of 8-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference. Michael Gannong and Cole Kattan both finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way, as the teammates both had a double-double.

The Golden Eagles return home on Tuesday, January 18th for another conference matchup. They take on Cortland at 4 pm at The Vlog.
