Ithaca, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's and women's indoor track and field team competed at Ithaca College Friday night in a quad meet featuring the host school, SUNY Brockport, Moravian University and SUNY Oneonta.
Sending a combined 32 competitors to the meet, nearly a ¼ fraction of their team, the Golden Eagle's still managed to place second in both the men's and women's team scores. The men totaled for 31 points while the women combined for 30 points in the meet.
Jumps:
The men's Triple Jumpers were one of the top areas for the Golden Eagles scoring a total of eight of the teams combined points. Helping the Brockport's efforts were D'Andre Hunter taking home first place in the event with a jump of 12.61m. Derek Edick claimed second place in the same event with a jump of 12.17m.
In the women's triple jump,
Chanyce Powell took home first place with 11.20m while teammate
Mia Montgomery finished second in the event with a jump of 10.88m
Defending Long Jump National Champion Egypt Page took home first place in the Long Jump leaping for 7.07m. Derek Edick recorded fifth in the event with 6.08m.
Track Events:
In the women's 60m dash,
Sarah Levine took home the bronze in the race sprinting her way to a time of 8.13s.
For the men's runner, Caleb Carr took recorded a first place finish in the men's 400m with a time of 56.80s. Jordan Cancel finished in second place in the same event with a time of 57.06m.
Kaylee Haynes took home first place in the women's 500m race with a time of 1:22.26. Lukas Walters took home third place in the 500m race with a time of 1:13.75.
In the women's mile, three out of the five top five finishers belonged to Brockport.
Meredith Masker recorded the best time of a Golden Eagle in the race with a time of 5:47.20.
Lydia Cox finished in fourth with a time of 5:48.04 while
Olivia Annunziato took home fifth with a time of 5:48.04.
In the women's 3000m race,
Veronica Dailey took home a first place finish running the event in 11:16.33.
For the men's 3000m race, Brockport's Jonathan Zavala, picked up a second place finish with a time of 8:55.43.
The Golden Eagle's will next host the Brockport Invitational on Saturday, January 22 in the SERC. The first event will start at 10am.
