New Paltz, NY – The Golden Eagles lost their fourth game in a row on Friday, falling to New Paltz, 64-37, on the road. Brockport is now 8-7 overall and 3-6 in the conference, while the Hawks improved to 11-4 overall and 7-2 in the SUNYAC.
The home team got off to a hot start early on and stayed in control for the majority of the contest. After trailing 17-7 going into the second quarter, Brockport fought to keep the score within six before New Paltz closed the half on a run. The Hawks would own a halftime lead that read, 35-19.
Both teams struggled to score in the third quarter, as the Green and Gold continued to trail. New Paltz had its highest scoring quarter of the night in the fourth, as the team outscored Brockport 22-12 in the final frame. This kept Brockport away from any comeback attempts, giving the Hawks the 27-point victory at home.
Molly Mahony led the Golden Eagles with a season-high 10 points, as she was the lone double-digit scorer on the night.
Anna Felice was 4-for-4 at the foul line on her way to seven points for second on the team in scoring in the game.
Balanced scoring by New Paltz was led by 12 points from Cassidy Deaver, while three other players scored at least eight points. The Hawks continue to stay among the top two in the current SUNYAC standings.
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday for another conference matchup, as they look to put an end to this rough patch. They travel to take on Oneonta for a 2 pm tip-off.
