Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team missed a last second 3-pointer in Saturday's game, resulting in a 53-50 loss to Potsdam at home. Brockport is now 9-9 overall and 4-8 in the SUNYAC this season.
Erin Nolan finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds to post her first double-double of the season. Erin Racack scored 10 points as well, while
Anna Felice and
Kylee Rosbrook combined for 15 in the game.
Chelsea Henry tallied five points, three assists, and 10 boards.
Brockport continuously attacked the basket in the opening quarter, getting clean looks at the rim to take nan early lead. The squad held a 19-13 lead heading into the second quarter. Potsdam trailed by as many as nine before it began to close the gap. The Bears converted a last second shot through contact and made the free throw, tying the score up at 30-30 going into halftime.
The third quarter was controlled by the visiting team, as Potsdam outscored the Green and Gold 16-8 in the period. Heading into the fourth, Brockport trailed 46-38 on its home court. Down 13 points early on in the final period,
Anna Felice went on a scoring spurt with all seven of her points coming in the fourth quarter, to spark a comeback. Brockport had one last possession and a shot to tie the game as time expired but the shot rimmed out as Potsdam escaped with the 3-point win.
The Bears benefitted from three double-digit scorers in the contest, as they were led by Jakia Howard's game-high 12 points. Dyamon Hunter had 11 points, while Jenna Cotter scored 10 off the bench. Potsdam improved to 10-7 overall and 5-6 in the conference.
The Golden Eagles are back on their home court next Friday, as they host Fredonia on February 4
th. This SUNYAC matchup is set to begin at 5:30 pm.
