New Paltz was on fire from beyond the 3-point arc in the first half. The Hawks hit seven shots from long range to jump out to a convincing lead early on. Brockport trailed its opponent by 20 points at one time in the second quarter, entering halftime down 37-24.

The Golden Eagles defensive effort got them back into the game, as they did not allow New Paltz to score for the first five minutes of the third quarter. With 1:34 left before the start of the fourth, Brockport tied the score up at 40-40. The final quarter was tight all the way through, but New Paltz's timely shooting from deep and some free throws made the difference.
