Volleyball Sweeps Potsdam to Clinch Spot in the Postseason

Potsdam, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team officially clinched a postseason berth on Saturday after sweeping Potsdam, 3-0, on the road. Brockport is now 16-5 overall and improves to 6-1 in the SUNYAC.
 
Jordan Thompson posted a match-best 15 kills, earning a .424 hitting percentage. She also added four aces and two block assists to lead all players in the match with 20 points.
 
Andrea Coyle had 11.5 points from nine kills, two aces, and one assisted block. Coyle also had 12 digs, coming in behind Madalyn Bowen's team-high 16 digs.
 
Middle blocker Myah Frostclapp had 10 kills in the match on the way to putting up a .400 hitting percentage. As a team Brockport only had six attacking errors in the match, a new season-best.
 
Ashley Allen had 20 assists, while Kerri McHale had 19 on the day. Allen and teammate Alexis Sison both tallied five kills without committing any attacking errors.
 
The Potsdam Bears got off to a hot start, going up 12-2 early in the first set. Down by 11 points in the set, the Green and Gold turned it around to tie the score up at 23-23. Brockport completed the opening set comeback to take the first match point, 25-23.
 
In the second set, the teams kept it close as Brockport held a slight 13-10 lead. Soon the squad would go on a nice run to cruise forward for the second match point, winning the set 25-15.
 
As the third set got going, Potsdam worked for a small edge on the scoreboard looking to avoid the sweep. Brockport tied the game up and the two conference opponents continued to trade back and forth. The Green and Gold outlasted the Bears, battling for the 26-24 win to complete the sweep.
 
The Golden Eagles are on the road again next weekend for two more conference matchups. They face Fredonia at 6pm on Friday, October 21st and then play Buffalo State on Saturday, October 22nd.
