Aurora, NY – The SUNY Brockport field hockey team won its fourth game in a row on Tuesday, defeating Wells College on the road, 7-1. Brockport improves to 9-5 overall with just two games remaining in the regular season.
Tiffany Andres got the Golden Eagles off to a quick start with a goal just 1:06 into the opening period. It would be the first of two for Andres, and the first of three first quarter scores for the team.
Gianna Salerno would score and assist
Taylor Weber on a goal to put Brockport up, 3-0, going into the second. The Green and Gold outshot Wells, 9-0, in the first quarter.
The Express would get on the board early on in the second thanks to Lauren Speigel. Brockport would answer quickly with Andres' second goal, with the assist from
Emma Acevedo. At halftime the squad held a 4-1 advantage.
In the third quarter it only took a few minutes for the Golden Eagles to add to the lead. They benefitted from scores by
Bailey Lazore and
Paige Thowe to make it a 6-1 game.
Quinn Guy added the extra cushion with a score in the fourth, securing the 7-1 victory.
Katelynn Banning gets the win in her first collegiate start for the Green and Gold. She went the full 60 minutes, allowing one goal and making two saves. It was a dominant showing from the squad as it earned 12 extra penalty corners and outshot Wells, 29-3, for the game.
The Golden Eagles are back at home on Saturday for a big SUNYAC matchup on Senior Day. They host the Oneonta Red Dragons for a 12pm start on Bob Boozer Field.
