Cortland, NY- The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team fell to SUNY Cortland, 2-0, on the road Saturday. Brockport officially clinches a postseason berth as the sixth seed for the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament. The team is now 4-8-3 overall and 3-5-1 in the SUNYAC.
After a scoreless 25 minutes to start the match, Cortland's Jayden Kelley put the first score on the board assisted by teammate Jaden Galluzzo. Cortland owned a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
The Red Dragons were off to a quick start the second half as Jaden Galluzzo scored 28 seconds into the period assisted by teammate Kayla Valerioti.
The Golden Eagles recorded a total of eleven shots in the contest.
Kiley Longin led the team recording four shots.
Camryn Pettit followed close behind with two.
Emily Maczka,
Megan Gerber, Franchescha Polcaro,
Julia Mascaro and
Elaine George also recorded shots for the Green and Gold.
Kayla Usborne spent 90:00 minutes in the net this afternoon. Usborne allowed two goals and made a season-high ten saves.
The Golden Eagles will play away vs. Nazareth College for their final regular season match up at 4pm on Wednesday, October 26
th in Rochester New York.
Heading back to the SUNYAC Tournament this season, #6 Brockport will travel to play #3 New Paltz on Saturday, October 29th for the first round. The opening round of the postseason is set to begin at 1pm.
