Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team finished the regular season out with a, 2-1, win over Nazareth College. Brockport now sits with a 5-8-3 overall record and 3-5-1 mark in the SUNYAC. Nazareth is now 5-4-7 overall and 4-1-3 in the Empire 8.
The women got off to a hot start, as
Maryalice Skutnik scored the first goal for the Golden Eagles just 46 seconds into the match. Skutnik was unassisted on the score, her second of the season, to give the squad a 1-0 lead.
Nearly 10 minutes later, Nazareth's Alexandra Skoda scored the Golden Flyers only goal of the game. Skoda was assisted on the goal by Haley Glassman. The two teams were all tied up at 1-1 going into half time.
Brockport came straight out of the gates again to start the second half.
Franchesca Polcaro scored less than 6 minutes into the half assisted by
Kaleigh Pettit. Polcaro now leads the team with three goals this season, including two game winners.
The women put up a total of 16 shots.
Lara Kanbur,
Emily Maczka, and
Kiley Longin all recorded three shots, Skutnik and Polcaro both recorded two and
Elaine George,
Megan Gerber and
Kaleigh Pettit all recorded one for the Golden Eagles.
Madeline McCrosson played a full game between the pipes for Brockport. The freshman goalkeeper made ten saves and allowed one goal in the victory.
The Golden Eagles will travel SUNY New Paltz on Saturday, October 29
th at 2pm for the first round of the SUNYAC Championship Tournament.
