Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season with 1-1 Split at Tri-Match

Pittsburgh, PA – This weekend at the Carnegie Mellon Tri-Match the SUNY Brockport volleyball team went 1-1 in a pair of non-conference matches. Brockport defeated Denison, 3-2, in the early slot before falling to Carnegie Mellon, 3-0, to close out the day.
 
Match 1: Brockport 3, Denison 2 – Final
 
The Golden Eagles came all the way back from behind to take the win over Denison in five sets to start the day. They fell in the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-18, before heating up. Brockport went on to win three straight sets, 25-20, 25-21, and 15-8 for the comeback victory.
 
Jordan Thompson was fantastic yet again with 25 points to lead the squad. She racked up 19 kills, three aces, five total blocks, and 10 digs in an all-around effort.
 
Andrea Coyle had nine kills to go with 19 digs in the match. Libero Madalyn Bowen came up with a match-high 24 digs, while middle blocker Myah Frostclapp totaled seven blocks.
 
Kerri McHale and Ashley Allen both recorded exactly 20 assists against Denison. McHale added two aces and 10 digs, while Allen also contributed with two assisted blocks.
 
Match 2: Brockport 0, Carnegie Mellon 3 – Final
 
The host team, Carnegie Mellon would go on to sweep Brockport in the second match of the day. Brockport lost in three sets, by scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-10.
 
Jordan Thompson again led the team offensively, tallying seven kills to go with 11 digs. Myah Frostclapp had six kills and two block assists to score seven points in the match.
 
Madalyn Bowen hustled for 14 digs, leading the Green and Gold defensively. Bowen also snuck a pair of serves through for two aces. Ashley Allen had 10 assists, while Kerri McHale finished with nine against Carnegie Mellon.
 
The Golden Eagles now turn their attention towards the postseason, as the regular season has officially come to an end. They are 19-7 overall and went 8-1 in the SUNYAC to lock up the second seed, earning a first-round bye.
 
Brockport awaits the winner of Buffalo State and New Paltz on November 1st for a date in the SUNYAC Semifinals. The semifinals match is set for 7pm on Friday, November 4th.
