Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's tennis team looks to wrap-up the fall portion of the season with a full week of SUNYAC action. Brockport will face Plattsburgh, Oneonta, and New Paltz this week down at the Lane Tennis Center in Binghamton, NY.
The action starts on Thursday, October 6
th against Plattsburgh at 3pm. Brockport faces Oneonta on Friday at 3pm and New Paltz on Saturday at 3pm to conclude the weekend.
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles hosted Geneseo last week for a conference battle at home. The Knights took the, 8-1, victory to hand Brockport its second loss in the SUNYAC. The lone point for the Golden Eagles came in doubles play. In second doubles
Olivia Raschiatore and
Lena Paolicelli got the win, 8-5.
SUNYAC Standings: Brockport owns a record of 2-5 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC so far this season. With three straight conference matches against conference opponents, the standings could get shaken up after the weekend. Currently the full SUNYAC standings are as follows: 1. New Paltz, 2. Geneseo, 3. Oneonta, 4. Cortland, 5. Brockport, 6. Plattsburgh, 7. Oswego, and 8. Fredonia.
Review of Opponents: The Plattsburgh State Cardinals are up first this week on the schedule. They enter the match at 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the SUNYAC, after recently getting swept, 9-0, by New Paltz. The Red Dragons from Oneonta have won four in a row, as their record now stands at 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference. New Paltz sits atop the SUNYAC with a 4-1 overall mark and an undefeated record of 4-0 in conference play.
Returning in the Spring: This weekend down in Binghamton will be the final set of competitions for the Golden Eagles this fall. They will return to action in the spring to prepare for the SUNYAC Championships, scheduled for April 28
th and 29
th of 2023.
