Field Hockey Dominates Morrisville to Snag First Conference Win

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport field hockey team got back in the win column Friday night with a 9-0 rout of Morrisville in SUNYAC play. Brockport improves to 6-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference after a dominant showing.

The Golden Eagles controlled the game from start to finish, as they did not allow Morrisville to get off a single shot in the match. They outshot the Mustangs 42-0 and drew 30 penalty corners while not surrendering any opportunities to the opponent.

Emmalee Moore and Taylor Weber both found the back of the net twice in the contest to lead the Green and Gold under the lights. Both of Moore's goals were unassisted, while Weber received assists from Olivia Hayden and Alyssa Fuccillo.

Paige Thowe, Kaitlyn Aitken, Bailey Lazore, Gianna Salerno, and Quinn Guy all scored one goal in the blowout win. Tiffany Andres finished with two assists and teammate Kalena Eaton had one helper.

Ella Buchanan got the start in net, but split time with Katelynn Banning at goalkeeper. The two teamed up to record the shutout as Brockport snagged its first conference win of the season.

Brockport was the aggressor right from the start, taking 10 shots and earning 10 penalty corners in the first quarter. Emmalee Moore got the scoring started with a goal just minutes before the first period ended.

With a 1-0 lead, the Golden Eagles would get a pair of goals from Taylor Weber and one more score from Moore before halftime. They entered the break with a comfortable 4-0 edge on the scoreboard, and a 21-0 lead on the shot chart.

The home squad would build upon this lead in the third quarter with two more scores, courtesy of Paige Thowe and Kaitlyn Aitken. Holding a 6-0 lead going in the final period, the Green and Gold kept the foot on the gas to close out the game. Bailey Lazore, Gianna Salerno, and Quinn Guy sealed the deal with insurance goals in the fourth to make it a 9-0 game.

The Golden Eagles are back at home on Wednesday, October 12th for a non-conference competition. They host the Medaille University Mavericks at Dr. Linda Arena Field at 7pm.
