Oneonta, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team soared high at Red Dragon Field, claiming a 2-1 victory over Oneonta. The conference play victory moves the Golden Eagles to 4-5-3 on the season, with a 3-2-1 record in the SUNYAC.

Kiley Longin got the Golden Eagles off to a hot start as they went up 1-0 early. After receiving a pass from
Sophia DeAngelo just outside the penalty area, Longin placed the ball over the Oneonta netminder and into the side netting, putting Brockport ahead just 6:23 into the game.
Oneonta would respond with a goal just over 40 minutes into the game. During a scramble off of a corner kick, the ball would fall to Leighann Perciballi. Perciballi passed to an open Kayla Schwizer for a tap in to equalize the game at 1-1.
Going into halftime, the game had been relatively defensive. Brockport held a slight edge, 2-1, in shots on goal and corner kicks.
In the second half, Brockport started to apply more pressure. The team had five shots, including three on frame in the final 45 minutes. In the 81
st minute,
Sydnee Smith crossed a ball, which was deflected by a defender and hit the left post of the goal.
Karlie Mann pounced on the loose ball, putting it away to give the Golden Eagles the 2-1 lead.
Oneonta drew a free kick opportunity about 30 yards away from goal, however the wall of Green and Gold did its job by blocking the shot and clearing the ball out of bounds.
Kayla Usborne went the full 90-minutes in net, allowing just one goal, as the squad pulled out the 2-1 victory on the road.
With the win, Brockport sits at fourth in the SUNYAC with 10 points in the standings. There are just three conference games remaining in the regular season, as the ladies fight for a spot in the postseason.
The Golden Eagles now look ahead to a pivotal week in the conference. First, they will host the current third seed from Geneseo on Wednesday, October 12 at 4PM. They will then celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, October 15
th by hosting current top seeded New Paltz for a 1PM start.
