Buffalo, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball has now won four in a row after its, 72-69, victory over Buffalo State on the road. Brockport opens SUNYAC play 1-0 and improves to 4-1 overall.
Jahidi Wallace put up his season-high 27 points to lead the way for the Golden Eagles. He went 9-for-10 from the field and 9-for-12 at the foul line in an efficient scoring performance.
Mekhi Beckett finished with 20 points on the night, hitting at least 20 points for the fourth time in five games this season. He went 5-for-6 at the charity stripe and made 3-of-8 shots from beyond the arc.
David Grady III registered 12 points, seven rebounds, and blocked six shots for the second straight game.
Tony Arnold made multiple plays defensively, coming away with a career-high seven steals.
To begin the game the two teams went back and forth on the scoreboard. Soon the Golden Eagles would go on a run, jumping out to a five-point lead near the midway point of the first half. The conference foes battled to a 33-33 tie going into the locker rooms at halftime.
The Bengals came out to earn a five-point lead of their own early on in the second half.
Jahidi Wallace went to work for the Green and Gold, scoring 19 of his game-high 27 points in the second half. Wallace, Beckett, and Grady all made key free throws in the final minutes to pull out the narrow victory.
The Golden Eagles will continue conference play this weekend with two more SUNYAC opponents on the schedule. They will travel on Friday, December 2
nd to face Oswego at 7:30pm before coming home to host Cortland on Saturday, December 3rd for a 5pm start.
