Buffalo, NY – Brockport bounced back against Buffalo State on Tuesday night with a, 71-63, win on the road. The Golden Eagles improve to 2-2 overall and open SUNYAC play 1-0.
Anna Lee made a massive impact in the contest, putting up the best numbers of her career. She posted career-highs of 14 points, five rebounds, three steals, and matched a career-best with five assists.
Juan Brown set a new career-high with 13 points, improving upon the career-best mark she set last game.
Zairea Hannah finished with 11 points and snagged a game-high eight rebounds.
Anna Felice poured in 12 points and shot 7-for-8 at the foul line. In just 12 minutes of action off the bench,
Brianna Cordell posted career-highs of eight points, seven boards, and three blocks.
Both teams had the offense working early on, trading baskets to create an 8-8 score. Buffalo State would go on a 7-0 run to make it a 15-8 lead over Brockport.
Anna Felice made four straight free throws to help tie the score up at 17-17 after the first quarter.
The second quarter was similar as the two conference opponents went back and forth. Trailing 25-24,
Brianna Cordell and
Anna Lee gave Brockport a spark to close the quarter. The duo helped create a 32-27 lead for the squad going into halftime.
The Golden Eagles quickly increased the lead to nine points to start the third quarter. Buffalo State answered with a run, making Brockport's lead 46-45 with the fourth quarter approaching. The squad would close the third strong to hold a seven-point lead into the final period.
Despite the efforts from the Bengals to cut into the lead, they were unable to get over the hump. Brockport maintained an advantage of four points or more all the way through the final horn.
Anna Felice iced the game with three key makes at the charity stripe down the stretch.
The Golden Eagles are set to continue SUNYAC play this weekend with a pair of matchups. They head out to Oswego for a 5:30pm Friday night meeting before coming home to host Cortland on Saturday at 3pm.
