Daytona, FL – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team opened up play at the Mauro Panaggio Tournament with a loss to Illinois College, 79-63.
 
Jahidi Wallace scored a team-high 15 points in the contest. David Grady III finished with 12 points and seven boards.
 
Tyler Cowie came in off the bench to score 12 points and also blocked a season-high four shots. Mekhi Beckett tallied eight points and six boards.
 
Early on in the first half the two teams battled to a 7-7 tie, but Illinois College would soon make a run. By the 8:30 mark, the Blueboys worked to create a 25-15 advantage over the Golden Eagles. They would find themselves trailing, 42-31, heading into halftime.
 
Illinois would maintain a double-digit lead throughout the beginning of the second half. The Green and Gold fought to keep it close, as the Blueboys led, 54-44, near the midpoint of the half. Brockport was unable to slow down the hot shooting from Illinois, as the game began to slip away.
 
The Blueboys extended their lead to 22 points with 8:15 on the clock. They kept the big lead through the finish line for the, 16-point victory. Illinois was led by #35 Jake Mazrimas' 23 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Now at 7-3 overall, the Golden Eagles get the chance to prepare for Monday's matchup against Northern Vermont University – Lyndon. They take on the Hornets at DME Academy for a 12pm tip-off in the final game of the men's Mauro Panaggio Tournament.
