Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team had its five-game win streak halted Saturday night, falling to Cortland, 63-60. Brockport suffers its first conference loss of the season to move to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the SUNYAC.
Jahidi Wallace notched a double-double for the second straight game, finishing with team-highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Tony Arnold was busy in the contest, registering 19 points, seven rebounds, and five steals.
David Grady III totaled 14 points, seven boards, and three blocks for the Green and Gold.
It was a close game from start to finish, with neither team creating a double-digit lead at any point in the night. Cortland eventually took a 27-21 lead, as the 6-point advantage was the largest lead of the first half.
Tony Arnold hit a buzzer beater, step-back 3-pointer to make it a 34-32 game at halftime. The Red Dragons owned the slim edge on the scoreboard after 20 minutes of action.
The early goings of the second half was more of the same, as the two SUNYAC rivals were once again tied at 38-38. Cortland's Austin Grunder sparked a run for his team, eventually going up by nine points for the largest lead of the contest. The Golden Eagles responded down the stretch, as a
David Grady III dunk with 19 seconds left in regulation made it a 61-60 score.
The Cortland Red Dragons were able to sink a pair of crucial free throws with five seconds remaining to go up by three points. Brockport was unable to tie the game in the final moments, resulting in the 63-60 loss at home.
The Golden Eagles are on the road Tuesday, December 6
th for another conference matchup. They take on Fredonia for a 7:30pm start.
