Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team lost at home on Saturday, 71-41, against the Cortland Red Dragons. Brockport is now 3-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Zairea Hannah finished with her second double-double of the season, posting season-highs of 14 points and 16 rebounds. She shot 7-for-13 from the floor and also added a season-high of three blocks.
Anna Felice also hit double-digits, pouring in 11 points in the contest.
Cortland took control of the game early on, jumping out to an 11-4 lead halfway through the first. Brockport was unable to match the pace of the opponent in the first quarter, trailing 16-8 heading into the second. The visiting Red Dragons didn't take long to extend their lead to 18 points, heading into halftime up, 35-17.
The Golden Eagles got
Zairea Hannah going early on in the third, but Cortland was able to answer to maintain a big lead. Although
Mackenzie Higby and
Anna Felice nailed a pair of 3-point shots to close the quarter, Cortland held a 25-point lead going into the fourth. Brockport was unable to cut into the deficit in the final quarter, suffering its first SUNYAC loss of the season.
On Tuesday, December 6
th, Brockport will travel to Fredonia for another conference battle. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
