Women's Basketball Dominates Alfred State at Home Thursday Night

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team dominated at home against Alfred State on Thursday night, cruising to a, 78-41, victory. Brockport has now won four of its last five games, improving to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the SUNYAC.
 
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste led all scorers with 17 points, doing damage from deep, shooting 4-for-9 from 3-point territory. She also came up with three steals and two blocks.
 
Shannon Blankenship scored 12 points to set a new career-high. She also grabbed six boards and had three steals as well. Zairea Hannah was 5-for-6 with 10 points, hitting double-digits for the third straight game.
 
The Golden Eagles set a new season-high with 52 bench points in the contest. Freshmen Madison Misser and Mackenzie Higby scored career-highs. Misser had eight points to go with Higby's six points.
 
Brockport played the passing lanes all night, forcing Alfred State to commit 32 turnovers. This resulted in a season-high 20 steals defensively. Stephanie Jean-Baptiste, Shannon Blankenship, Madison Misser, Mackenzie Higby, and Zoe Zutes all had three steals.
 
Brianna Cordell checked in off the bench to grab a team-high 10 rebounds, including nine from crashing the offensive glass. Anna Felice dished out a game-high five assists and had two steals. Zoe Zutes finished with three blocks for the fourth time this season.
 
Brockport was in control of the game from start to finish, jumping out to a quick 9-2 lead in the first. Alfred State's turnover problem began early, allowing Brockport to own an 11-point lead going into the second quarter.
 
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste got going from beyond the arc in the second, as the Green and Gold made four 3-point shots in the period. Madison Misser and Mackenzie Higby hit back-to-back shots from deep to put the squad up by 21 points with 3:55 left until halftime. Brockport entered the break up, 39-22.
 
The third quarter saw the Golden Eagles post their highest scoring period of the night. They outscored the visiting Pioneers, 25-9, in the third to break the game wide open. Brockport led by 33 points heading into the final quarter. The team continued its effort in the fourth, marching to the 37-point victory.
 
The Golden Eagles are back at home on Saturday, December 10th for a matchup with the University of Rochester. Tip-off is scheduled for 2pm back at The Vlog.
