Women's Basketball Locks Down Plattsburgh for Much Needed Win

Plattsburgh, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team allowed just eight points in the second half on the way to a 59-31 win over Plattsburgh on the road. The win put Brockport back in the win column as it improves to 10-11 overall and 5-10 in the SUNYAC.
 
Anna Felice came in off the bench to lead the team with 13 points, going a perfect 5-for-5 at the charity stripe. Erin Nolan was 4-for-4 at the line on her way to 10 points and five rebounds. Molly Mahony finished with five points and 10 rebounds, grabbing double-digit boards for the fourth time this season.
 
The Golden Eagles were able to hold Plattsburgh to just 23.5% shooting from the field for the entire game, as the Cardinals struggled to score. Plattsburgh was just 21.7% from beyond the arc and shot only 18.2% at the foul line. Brockport kept its opponent to single digits in three of the four quarters, which included giving up just one point in the third.
 
Anna Felice provided a spark in the first quarter, scoring six of her game-high 13 points in the opening period. Brockport kept Plattsburgh to single digits to start the game, leading 14-9 after one. 3-point shooting jumpstarted the Cardinals offense to start the second quarter, as they worked to earn a 17-15 lead at the eight-minute mark. Erin Radack would net seven quick points for the Green and Gold for the response, giving the squad the lead back. Brockport would enter the locker room at halftime with a 35-23 advantage.
 
Down by 12 points going into the third quarter, Plattsburgh came out and only scored one point in the period. The hosting Cardinals went 0-for-8 from the floor, 0-for-4 from deep, and 1-for-4 at the foul line in the third. The Golden Eagles took advantage by stretching their lead to 24 points going into the final quarter. Brockport would keep Plattsburgh to single digits once again in the fourth, cruising to a 28-point victory on the road.
 
The Cardinals move to 7-16 overall and 4-12 in the conference following the loss. Hope Sullivan led the team with eight points, as no Plattsburgh players were able to hit double-digits in the scoring column.
 
At 5-10 in the SUNYAC, Brockport remains in postseason contention with just three games left in the regular season. Every game matters down the stretch as the squad looks to return to the postseason.
 
The Golden Eagles are back on the road in their next contest. They head out to face Fredonia for a 5:30 pm tip-off of Tuesday, February 15th.
