Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team won its sixth game in a row on Tuesday, defeating Fredonia, 98-62, on the road. Brockport is now 16-6 overall and 11-5 in the conference.
David Grady III led four double-digit scorers with 18 points on the night, going 8-for-13 from the field and grabbing five boards.
Mekhi Beckett had 15 points,
Jahidi Wallace scored 14, and
Antonio Alvarez had 10 points in the victory.
Several other players stuffed the stat sheet with key contributions outside of the scoring column.
Devante Hagins totaled seven assists, four rebounds, and four steals.
Tony Arnold tallied six steals to go with his six points and three assists. With nine boards,
Monte Johnson led the team's effort on the glass.
Brockport got off to a strong start, but Fredonia was prepared to answer as the score was tied at 12-12 with 12:40 on the clock. It wasn't long before the Golden Eagles took over the game, capturing all of the momentum. They outscored Fredonia, 32-10, in the last ten minutes of the half to seize a 23-point lead at the break.
Holding a comfortable 47-24 edge as the second half started, the Green and Gold kept the pedal to the metal. The squad proceeded to score 51 points in the second half, shooting 51.2% from the field and 46.1% from downtown. By the 15-minute mark in the half, the Brockport lead had extended past 30 points. Brockport led by as many as 40 points in the blowout victory over Fredonia on the road.
Fredonia had two double-digit scorers in Kreem George and Brady Woleben, who both poured in 11 points. The Blue Devils move to 3-20 overall and 3-13 in the SUNYAC after the loss.
The Golden Eagles are back in action this weekend for the final two games of the regular season. They travel to Oswego for a 7:30 pm tip-off on the road before heading home to close out the season against Buffalo State at 2 pm.
