Men's Track & Field Aims to Hoist the 2021-2022 SUNYAC Track & Field Championship this Saturday at the SERC

BROCKPORT, NY – SUNY Brockport will host The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's and women's indoor track and field championships will take place Friday and Saturday, February 25 and 26, 2022 at Brockport's SERC Field House. The championship will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday with the last event at 9:15 p.m. The meet will continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday finishing with the men's 4x400 relay at 3:40 p.m.
SUNYAC RECAP: SUNY Brockport will look to be one of the eight other SUNYAC teams competing to knock off Geneseo who's is looking to defend both titles after taking home the SUNYAC men's and women's indoor track and field championship crowns from 2017-2020. There was no competition in 2021 due to COVID-19. 
How to Keep Track: The 2022 SUNYAC indoor track and field championships will not be able to accommodate in-person spectators during the league's two-day event. In five scored meets this season, the Golden Eagles men's indoor track and field team have finished in the top four each time as a team.  In their top four finishes, the men have placed first three times this season including the season opener Utica Holiday Classic where they scored 150 points, the Utica Blue and Orange Invitational which saw them earn 117 points and at the Brockport Multi where they scored a team high 153.5 points.

Top 50
Five individuals have managed to earn themselves a spot in the top 50 of their events for the men's indoor track and field team in three different events including a Distance Medley Relay team.
 
Olivier Kothor has set two school records this season. His first came at the Utica Holiday classic where he ran the 60m dash in a time of 6.89s. This time placed him as the 26th fastest runner in the country in the 60m dash. in the men's 200m, Olivier Kothor set the school record with a time of 21.85s seconds on a banked track at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. This time placed him with the 28th fastest time in the country in the event.
 
The Distance Medley Relay team of Thomas Kressley, Frank Derdzinski, Zach Markle and Jonathon Zavala ran gold the 24th best time in the nation in the event with a time of 10:22.84.
 
In the field, the men's shot put team has the most members of the men's and women's team with three in the top 50. Art Jordan ranks 5th in the nation with his shot put of 16.61m. freshman Alex Rood ranks 19th in the country in the shot put with a mark of 15.52m and Elijah Washington 48th in the country with 14.49m.
 
Top 100
Five other competitors for the Golden Eagles have managed to rank within the top 100 in the nation in their event.
 
In the shot put, Matt Faluise ranks 74th with a throw of 14.50m while John Demy ranks 89th with 14.26m
 
In the weight throw, Matt Faulis ranks 60th with 16.51m, Elijah Washington 65th with 16.37m and Connor Ferris 72nd with 16.22m.
 
For the men's triple jump, Dion Putaski ranks 95th overall with
 
Regionals
Following the SUNYAC Championships, those who qualify will go to the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Indoor Conference Championships at Nazareth College in Pittsford, NY for the two day event of Friday, March 4th and Saturday, March 5th
