Brockport, NY – The men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are sending four athletes to the D3 NCAA Championships taking place on Thursday, May 22
nd, Friday, May 23
rd, and Saturday, May 24
th at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Jonathan Zavala will be returning to nationals to run the 1500m race for the second year in a row. Zavala has been a top distance runner for Brockport this season with a number of top-three finishes in the 1500. At U of R, he finished in third place; at the E8 championships, he took the silver medal, and at Williams College, he finished in first place. Zavala is currently ranked 14
th in all of D3 with a time of 3:46.96, which he accomplished at Williams.
Ayden Grinion has been a top runner in the 400m hurdles for the Golden Eagles this season, also finishing in the top three at a number of meets. Grinion started out the season with a first place finish in Geneseo, a second-place spot at St. John Fisher, a silver medal finish at the E8 championships, first place again at St. John Fisher, and second place at regionals at Williams College. Grinion is currently 16
th in all of D3 from a time of 52.62, a Brockport school record that he accomplished at Williams College.
Alexis Rodriguez has also been a staple to the team in the 400m hurdles in the 2025 season. Rodriguez brought a strong first place finish at the Empire 8 Championships, took third at the St. John Fisher last chance meet, and another gold medal spot at the AARTFC regional meet where she also took the school record. Rodriguez is ranked 10
th in all of D3 with a time of 1:01.36 achieved at regionals.
Rebecca Heuler will also be returning to nationals this year in the javelin. Heuler is currently ranked 23
rd in the country in all of D3 from a 41.23m throw that she achieved at the Brockport Multi meet
back in April. Heuler also had a number of top three finishes in the javelin including a first place finish at Geneseo to start the season, first place at St. John Fisher, first place at the E8 championships, and second place at Williams College.
