Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team lost at home on Friday, 15-12, to St. Lawrence. Following a second straight loss, Brockport is now 2-2 overall on the season.
With four goals in the contest,
Claire Odett led the squad with her season-high four goals, notching her first hat trick.
Logan Hibbard finished with her second hat trick of the year with three goals in the game.
Cassidy Burnash had three points on one goal and a team-high two assists.
Allison Jennings had two goals and one assist to match Burnash's three points.
Courtney Cunningham tallied two goals, two caused turnovers, and five ground balls.
Morgan Elmer faced 36 shots on goal by St. Lawrence, making 21 saves in the contest. She was just one save shy of tying her career-high (22), which she set against Nazareth earlier this season. She also contributed a team-high six ground balls and a team-high four caused turnovers.
Just 29 seconds into the match,
Courtney Cunningham was fed by
Alayna Foos to give Brockport a quick 1-0 lead. The visiting Saints answered with two goals to take a one-goal lead.
Logan Hibbard and
Allison Jennings both scored unassisted goals to put the Green and Gold back up, 3-2, going into the second. The duo would score again, along with
Claire Odett, in the second quarter to match three goals from St. Lawrence in the period. The score read 6-5 in favor of Brockport at halftime.
The third quarter saw St. Lawrence take all of the momentum. The Saints scored six unanswered goals in the third, as they jumped out to an 11-6 lead. The Golden Eagles attempted to get back into it with six goals of their own in the fourth.
Claire Odett scored three of her four goals in the final frame. However, St. Lawrence added four more scores in the quarter which prevented Brockport from catching up on the scoreboard.
The Saints improved to 5-0 on the season after Friday's contest. They benefitted from five different players registering at least three points in the game. The St. Lawrence goalie, Raelynn Bovenzi came away with nine saves in the win.
The Golden Eagles look to bounce back on the road next weekend for another top-25 matchup against St. John Fisher. The action gets started at 3 pm on Saturday, March 26
