BROCKPORT, NY - The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team (4-2) is set to travel to New Paltz where they will take on the SUNY New Paltz Hawks (1-5) at the South Turf Field on Saturday, March 26th. Faceoff is scheduled for 1:00pm
 
Last Time Out
The Golden Eagles most recent game saw the team fall to the then ranked #14 John Carroll in overtime by a score of 16-15. Since then, John Carroll has dropped out of the USILA Division III Men's Lacrosse Coaches Poll.
 
Five different Golden Eagles recorded multi goal game as Santillo led the Golden Eagles offense scoring four goals in the game. Jhovanny Olivares recorded a hat-trick with his three goals while Patrick Sheridan, Owen VanWie, and Carson Colucci each scored two goals with Nelson Logan and Nate Asking also scoring one goal each.
 
Brockport recorded 10 caused turnovers and 21 total turnovers. Against John Carroll, eight Golden Eagles had caused turnovers with Aidan Fitzgerald leading the team with three. Olivares and Carson Colucci each scooped up a team high three turnovers as VanWie, Logan, Sheridan and Max Riley grabbed two turnovers a piece. Fitzgerald, Santillo, Askin, John Felice, Ethan Stiles, Chris bock, Blake Palozzi and Luke Conway each recorded one turnover each.
 
Athletes of the Week
SUNY Brockport long stick midfielder Aidan Fitzgerald was named the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week in a release by the conference office on Monday afternoon.  Fitzgerald recorded a total of 22 ground balls over the course of three games last week, including 10 against Keuka and five against nationally ranked No. 14 John Carroll on Saturday. The senior from Calverton, NY also recorded 12 caused turnovers in three games. He added one point on an assist against Keuka.
 
Rocco Santillo of the Golden Eagles was named the SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Week in a release by the conference office on Monday afternoon.  Santillo recorded 11 points over the course of three games for the Golden Eagles (nine goals and two assists) last week.  He registered four goals in the overtime loss at nationally-ranked No. 14 John Carroll this past Saturday.
 
Team Stats
The Golden Eagles have been outplaying their opponents so far this season having scored a total of 103 goals and 61 assists on its opposing teams whereas other teams have only scored 51 goals and 31 assists against Brockport's defense. The Golden Eagles have also secured 235 ground balls, 102 turnovers and 79 caused turnovers with a faceoff: W-L record of 115-56 for a .673 faceoff percentage. The team is 125-135 on clear attempts and with a .926% has them ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation in clearing percentage. Having a total of 164 points through six games, the Golden Eagles are ranked No. 8 in the country in points per game with 27.33ppg. with 61 assists in six games the Golden Eagles rank No. 9 in the nation in assists per game with an average of 10.17. Brockport also ranks No. 9 in the country in scoring Margin as they've outscored its opponents 103-51 for a goal difference of 8.67.
 
Team Leaders
Attackman Patrick Sheridan leads Brockport's offense in goals and points this season as the fifth year senior's recorded 16 goals and five assists for a total of 21 points. Jhovanny Olivares and Nelson Logan are the teams assist leaders as each have tallied eight assists so far this year. Olivares has a total of 15 points on eight assists and seven goals where Logan has recorded 13 points on eight assists and five goals
 
Faceoff man Ethan Stiles leads the Green and Gold in ground balls as the fifth year senior has scooped up 39 total ground balls. He also leads Brockport is faceoffs as he holds a wins-loss record of 92-48 for a .657 faceoff percentage.
 
Long stick midfielder Aidan Fitzgerald is The Golden Eagles team leader In caused turnovers with 17 so far this year.
 
John Felice is Brockport's starting goaltender as the senior from port Jefferson Station has started in all six games in the crease this season. He's spent a total time of 254:45 in net and has made 35 saves allowing 42 goals against 119 shots faced.
 
Looking at New Paltz
The Hawks are currently 1-5 where the team saw its first victory in its most recent game against Manhattanville on Wednesday, March 23rd where New Paltz beat the Valliant's by a score of 10-9. John Reese leads the team in goals and points as with 14 goals and four assists he's totaled for 18 points this season. James Flanagan is the teams assist leader as he's recorded six assists and 10 goals for a total of 16 points. Tim Russell leads the defense in caused turnovers as the defender has 10 caused turnovers, and 15 grounds balls this season. Zachary Leung and Joseph Bradbury lead the team in ground balls as each have recorded 18 this season along with six caused turnovers.
 
Matt Brignati is currently having a faceoff wins-loss record of 40-30 for a .571 faceoffs percentage. Ethan Scully is the team's second faceoff man and holds a .491 faceoff% with a wins-loss record of 28-29.
 
Nate Lindsey has started all games for New Paltz in net where he's allowed 36 goals and made 39 saves on 132 shots faced. Ryan Steinhart as seen an even amount of time in net as the duo split playing time per game with Lindsey being the starter and Steinhart taking over for the remaining 30-minutes of play following halftime. This season Steinhart has allowed 28 goals against 145 shots while making 61 saves.
 
What's Next
Following Saturday 1:00pm game the Golden Eagles will travel to Alfred University on Tuesday, March 29th for a 4:00pm game against the Saxons.
