Brockport Looks to Continue Hot Start at Alfred Tuesday Night

The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team travels to Alfred University on Tuesday night for non-conference action against the Saxons at 5 p.m. The contest marks the final non-conference contest of the regular season for the Golden Eagles.

Off to a HOT Start: Brockport is off to one of its best starts in program history with a 5-2 overall record.  Brockport is also 1-0 in conference play, joining Geneseo and Cortland atop the standings. Brockport leads the conference with 118 total goals this season.

Road Warriors: Brockport is in the midst of a four-game road trip that started with a tight loss at #14 John Carrol on March 19th (16-15). Brockport rebounded with a win at New Paltz over the weekend.
 
In the National Spotlight: The Golden Eagles rank in the top 10 nationally in both scoring margin (8.86) and scoring offense (16.86). They have the No. 1 clearing percentage in the country (.926) and they rank 14th nationally in points per game 26.29. Aidan Fitzgerald ranks 16th nationally and first in the conference with an average of 3.00 caused turnovers per game.

Player of the Week: Senior Rocco Santillo was named the SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week in a release by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Santillo posted a career-high six goals as Brockport topped host New Paltz 15-5 in their SUNYAC opener on Saturday.  He added two ground balls and two caused turnovers while posting a 90% shots on goal percentage. He currently leads the team and ranks second in the SUNYAC with a career-high 20 goals this season. He is also tied for the team lead and ranks second in the league with 24 total points.  He has at least two points in every game this season and over the course of the last three games he has 13 goals.

SUNYAC Leaders: Santillo (20) and Patrick Sheridan (18) rank second and third in the SUNYAC in goals scored. They are both tied for second in the conference with 24 total points. Nelson Logan ranks third in the league with eight assists. As a team, the Golden Eagles lead the league with 66 total assists. 

Brick Wall: Senior goalie John Felice ranks third in the SUNYAC with an 8.96 goals against average.  He has 45 total assists. 

Last Time Out: The Brockport men's lacrosse team won its SUNYAC opener on Saturday at New Paltz, defeating the Hawks by a score of 15-5.  Santillo posted a career-high six goals, while Patrick Sheridan, Nate Askin and Nelson Logan each registered two goals.  Sheridan finished the day with three total points and Felice stopped 10 shots in 60 minutes of work.

Home Sweet Home: Brockport is currently 3-0 at home this season, outscoring their opponents 60-15 in three games at home this season.  They scored a school-record 26 goals in their last home victory against Hilbert on March 16th.

Up Next: Brockport returns to SUNYAC action on Saturday when the Golden Eagles travel to Oneonta to take on the Red Dragons at 12 p.m. Following Saturday's road game at Oneonta, the Golden Eagles will return home for a key SUNYAC matchup against Cortland on Friday April 8th at 6 p.m.
