Huge Second Half Lifts Brockport Over Alfred

Alfred, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team continues its hot start with a win over Alfred University, 9-4. Brockport improves to 6-2 overall on the season for one of the best starts in program history.
 
Patrick Sheridan had two goals and two assists to finish with at least four points for the fourth time this year. The two-time SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Week Rocco Santillo scored three goals in the contest and he now has 16 goals in the last four games.  
 
Ryan McCarthy also scored twice and teammate Nelson Logan added two points with one goal and assist. Max Riley also got on the board with a goal in this one for the Green and Gold.
 
Owen VanWie and Jhovanny Olivares were each credited with one assist in the victory. Aidan Fitzgerald led the team with eight ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Ethan Stiles was 11-for-17 on the faceoff.
 
John Felice made his presence felt from his spot in net. He made 12 saves during the win, allowing just four goals in the full 60 minutes. He also contributed with six groundballs and one caused turnover.
 
The game would go scoreless after through the first quarter, but Alfred turned it on in the second. The Saxons would score three quick goals to get the action going in the second quarter. Brockport would find its first goal of the contest with 5:15 left in the period, thanks to Max Riley. Alfred would hold a 3-1 lead going into halftime.
 
Once the third quarter began the Golden Eagles took over the second half in dominant fashion. They outscored Alfred, 8-1, in the half to earn another nice win on the road. Patrick Sheridan, Rocco Santillo, and Ryan McCarthy all scored two goals in the second half. Brockport's offensive surge helped the team snag the five-goal victory.
 
The Golden Eagles continue their road trip on Saturday for a SUNYAC matchup against Oneonta. The game is scheduled for a 12 pm start on April 2nd.
