Brockport Unable to Fend off RIT on the Road

Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team lost a close one on the road against RIT on Wednesday, 18-17. No. 14 Brockport is now 3-3, while RIT improves to 4-5 on the season so far.
 
Claire Odett and Alayna Foos both had incredible performances offensively. Odett led the team with six goals to notch her third straight hat trick. Foos put up a career-high five goals in the contest, recording the third hat trick of her career. The duo are now both tied for best on the team with 15 goals each on the season.
 
Allison Jennings drew two goals closer to the century mark with a pair of scores. She now has 99 career goals and needs one more to eclipse the 100-goal milestone. Danielle Hemly had one goal, one assist, and four draw controls in the loss. Logan Hibbard had one assist, a team-high five draw controls, caused two turnovers, and had three groundballs.
 
Courtney Cunningham, Julia Quinlan, and Cassidy Burnash all finished with one goal on the day. Cunningham added three grounballs and three draw controls to her stat line. Morgan Elmer came up with 10 saves in net, her fifth double-digit save performance of the season.
 
RIT opened up the contest with a goal in the opening minute to take an early 1-0 lead. However, Claire Odett and Alayna Foos would spark the Brockport offense. The teammates combined for five scores in the first, helping the team to a 6-3 lead. The hosting Tigers fought back in the second quarter to make it a 9-7 Brockport advantage at halftime.
 
With a quick score in the third, Brockport would go up 10-7 on the road after the break. RIT would score three times in the quarter, but it did not keep pace with its opponent. The Golden Eagles received another four goals from Odett and Foos in another 6-3 quarter. They held a 15-10 edge heading into the fourth quarter. The Tigers went on a tear, winning the quarter 8-2, completing a comeback for the 18-17 victory.
 
The Golden Eagles will now jump into conference play this weekend for its first SUNYAC matchup of the season. They travel down to New Paltz for a 1 pm start on Saturday, April 2nd.
