Golden Eagles Tripped Up on the Road by Geneseo

Geneseo, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team lost another close game on Wednesday against Geneseo, 13-11. The team is now .500 at 5-5 overall and 2-2 in SUNYAC play.

Allison Jennings led the Brockport attack with four goals, notching her fifth hat trick of the season. Courtney Cunningham, Claire Odett, and Logan Hibbard all had three points from two goals and one assist.

Cassidy Burnash keeps her steak alive at 23 games in a row with a score, getting one past the Geneseo goalie in the game. Morgan Elmer was great in the back as usual, making 17 saves for the Green and Gold.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair that saw the teams tied up at 5-5 going into the second. Allison Jennings was able to score two of her team-high four goals in the opening period.

After a slow-moving start in the second, Brockport went on to score three in a row to take an 8-5 lead with 5:56 left until halftime. The hosting Knights got hot and closed the first half with five unanswered goals to take a 10-8 lead into the break.

The Green and Gold snagged a pair of quick goals in the third quarter to tie the score up at 10-10. Geneseo broke the tie with a score at the 6:24 mark and headed into the fourth with a one-goal lead.

Geneseo kept Brockport from scoring early on in the quarter and added two more goals. Trailing 13-10 with less than three minutes remaining, Jennings scored her fourth of the day to make it a two-score game. However, Geneseo did its part in holding off Brockport down the stretch to clinch the game.

The Golden Eagles are back in action on their home field this weekend, looking to get a bounce back win against Potsdam. The match is scheduled for a 1 pm start this Saturday.
