Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team dominated at home on Saturday with a 17-4 win over Potsdam. Brockport adds one to the win column to improve to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the SUNYAC.
It was the Ciara McKeon Memorial Game held in honor of former Golden Eagle Ciara McKeon who recently passed away. Current and former Brockport women's lacrosse players gathered on the field prior to the game for a moment of silence to remember one of our own.
As the game began
Claire Odett went to work with a season-high nine points on three goals and season-high six assists. She was three points shy of tying Angela Inzinna's record of 12 points set back in 2005.
Logan Hibbard filled up her stat line with five points, four goals, one assist, four groundballs, two caused turnovers, and seven draw controls.
Cassidy Burnash tallied three goals and two assists for five total points. She extends her streak to 24 straight games with a score.
Senior
Emily Caramore recorded the first hat trick of her career with three goals on the day.
Julia Quinlan had two goals and one assist, while
Danielle Hemly had one of each.
Courtney Cunningham scored a goal, grabbed two groundballs, and came up with five draw controls.
Morgan Elmer made two saves and allowed two goals in the first half. Teammate
Erin Lant also allowed two scores, finishing the game out for the Green and Gold in net.
Brockport got on the board first, as
Logan Hibbard scored on a free position opportunity with 11:10 on the clock. Potsdam answered quickly to tie the score at 1-1.
Claire Odett scored once and assisted on two goals to give the squad a 4-1 lead after one.
In the second quarter the Golden Eagles switched to another gear. They outscored Potsdam, 10-1, in the quarter to take a commanding 14-2 lead at halftime. Seven different Brockport players scored in the period.
With a 12-goal lead, the Green and Gold added another score early on in the third quarter. The team was up 15-2 heading into the fourth. The visiting Bears scored right away in the fourth quarter, just 17 seconds in. Both teams scored twice in the quarter as Brockport cruised through the finish line.
The Golden Eagles are on the road for their next match. They head out to take on Buffalo State for a 4 pm start on Wednesday, April 20
th.
