Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport softball team lost the set in Friday's doubleheader against New Paltz. The Hawks won by scores of 5-1 and 9-1, as Brockport moves to 9-11 overall and 2-6 in the SUNYAC.
Game 1 – Brockport 1, New Paltz 5
Emma DeJesus was 1-for-3 with an RBI single in the first round of the doubleheader. Freshman
Jackie DuTot connected for the first double of her career, going 1-for-2 at the plate.
Annie Dipirro got on base with a hit in her three at-bats, which set up
Morgan Skpowski to score as a pinch runner.
Hali Jenner (L, 3-4) pitched 5.1 innings as the starter for game one. She struck out two batters and allowed three runs to score.
Julia Palopoli finished this one out by going 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.
The top of the first inning saw the visiting Hawks get on the board with a 1-0 lead. New Paltz added two more in the third, making it a 3-0 game. In the top of the fourth Brockport got on the board when
Emma DeJesus brought
Morgan Skpowski in to score. New Paltz scored two more in the seventh inning to secure the 5-1 win.
Game 2 – Brockport 1, New Paltz 9
Olivia Hayden went 2-for-3 for the Golden Eagles with a run scored as the lead-off hitter.
Annie Dipirro finished 1-for-3 with an RBI single in the second game.
Cameryn Duggan connected for one hit in three tries, while
Morgan Skpowski registered a hit in her two at-bats.
Catherine Johnson (L, 1-4) got the start in the circle, striking out eight in just 3.2 innings of action.
Megan Van Dorn stepped into the game in the fourth, going 2.1 innings with a strikeout.
New Paltz launched a 3-run homer in the first to take an early lead. Brockport answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the first, making it a 3-1 game.
Annie Dipirro ripped a single up the middle which sent
Olivia Hayden home to score. The Hawks broke the game open with a four-run inning in the fourth. They added one more in the sixth to complete the 9-1 win in six innings.
The Golden Eagles had their Saturday doubleheader postponed due to the weather. They get back on the field for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 20
th against the U of R. The games are set for 3 pm and 5 pm at the Clark V. Whited Complex.
